• In January and February of 2008, I spent two months in Antarctica aboard the M/V Marco Polo as one of the lecturers on the expedtion team. You will see some of the paintings at paintings of Antarctica In the summer of 2008, I was the "artist in residence" aboard the icebreaker "Kapitan Khlebnikov", which traveled to the Arctic.   Antarctic Journal by Meredith Hooper, illustrated by Lucia deLeiris, is published by the National Geographic Society. This book results from a 3 1/2 month stay at a US station on the Antarctic Peninsula where Lucia and author Meredith learned from biologists as they conducted research in the field.
